  • A busy week..........

On my agenda for this week.....

    Clean basement

clean the house, upstairs and down

make lots of food, (cereal, yogurt, cheeseballs, pumpkin cookies, danish braids, etc)

    return books at the library

meet someone tomorrow morning at 9:30

round up some mattress' and pack-n-play, tables and chairs

get ready to entertain about 38 people for a few days and make sure everyone has a bed and towels to shower and food to eat

keep my sanity and not get grouchy

and last but not least go shopping on Black Friday

I told Mark this morning we had better enjoy these last few days of quietness.

Marks family is coming for Thanksgiving and they all plan to be here except for his one sister and family. The house will be full and running over with children, I think there's around 26 children  I was hoping for a beautiful warm day, so they can play outside but it looks like they are calling for rain.  Thankfully I don't have to make all the food but it worries  me about towels and washcloths, would it be rude to call them and tell them to bring their own or do I just wash twice a day and hope nobody has to drip-dry? I know we will be ready to have the twins sleep in their own crib and girls in their bed by Sunday night. They're not all staying for the weekend. On the menu for Thanksgiving dinner:

    Turkey and filling

    mashed potatoes

    creamed celery

    onion bread and smear cheese

    coleslaw/ christmas salad

pumpkin/ pecan pie and ice cream

    sweet tea and coffee

My mouth is already watering. Mark grew up with creamed celery and smear cheese and I'm still getting used to it

Have a Happy Thanksgiving. Let's be thankful for all the wonderful things that we have so abundantly.

  • Wow Lady!! I will pray that the Lord will bless you with abundante energy this coming week!! You will need it. When we have our reunions at Waynes Uncles house they ask us to bring our own towels and washcloths, so I don't think they would look at you crazy like ;) Have  an enjoyable time and hope every thing falls into place for you.

  • Whoa, lady!!!! That's a tall order for yourself! Just make sure to take time for the girlies, and everything will go better! (I'm still learning this!!!) by all means, ask them to bring towels/washcloths! I wouldn't have anywhere close enough for that many people! Whew! Blessings to you this week!I'll be thinking about you!

  • You're menu sounds yummy!  How do you make your yogurt?  Have a fun weekend!  We were blessed beyound measure with towels for wedding gifts , but i would ask them to bring their own, and tell them to help themselves to the washer.  Happy Thanksgiving ~ Jan

  • I agree, have them bring their own and have the washer/dryer available for use!!   How big is your house, anyway?  :)   You're going to be running a motel for a few days and I do hope it goes smoothly.   I could not handle all the commotion.   One of my faults is loving my 'own' peace & quiet.   So, I say bless your heart of hospitality... it surely is HUGE!!!   Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Don't give the recipe, but what is smear cheese??

  • Wow Gina! You've got several wks work crammed into this one! :0 Hope you have a huge house! I agree w/ the above^^^^(I don't handle all that commotion well at ALL!!) And yes, I agree, ask them to bring towels/wash cloths along--it not rude at all! its family!! Happy Thanksgiving to you & yours! :)

  • @billandconnier - It's a Lancaster amish thing, it's kinda like cheese spread, it's bascially water and white american cheese cooked and then it's creamy and it eat with crackers or bread. I still do not really care for it but my husband drools over it

  • @scuppernog - Here is my yogurt receipe, heat a gallon of milk (if you use raw milk take most of the cream off) heat to 190 and then cool to 130, add: 2 T. plain gelatine (soak in 1/2 c. cold water) beat good, I usually use a wire wisk, and then add 1 c.plain yogurt, 1/3 c.powdered milk, 1T.vanilla and 2/3 c.white sugar. Beat good and then pour into 4 quart jars and I pint jar.Pt your jars into a six quart kettle and pour hot tap water into the kettle until it's full and then I have a dome lid that fits over top and let set for 3 to 4 hours or until it's set. You can use whatever kettle you want to as long as you can put the lid on. The pint jar I usually put in a kettle by itself. I don't usually don't add sugar and then when eat it with maple syrup. I hope you can make sense out of this. Enjoy!!! If you have questions give me a call. I send you a message with my phone # (sorry about the spelling, it's messing up on me, it's suppose to say put:) (I usually use wide-mouth jars, cause it's easier to get out)

  • Thanks for stopping by my blog.  I looked at your photos- your babies are gorgeous!  Wow! you are brave to host that many people!  Happy Thanksgiving!

  • Hey girl!  I hope you survived and are having tons of fun today!  I have just got to tell you, that onion bread worked PERFECTLY!  We pulled it apart in the center to make it wider at the bottom and stuffed that part full of bits from the other piece.  I can't wait to show you the picture.  Christy and I both got to have one tiny bite and it was so YUMMY I thought I should call and tell you we actually need the whole loaf!  Anyhow, just so you know, that bread is going to get a whole lot more publicity then just your lovely Thanksgiving table!
